Senior Planner – Manufacturing - Kent

Our Client is a manufacturing organisation that designs and manufactures a wide range of electrical distribution equipment that is used throughout the electrical distribution and supply industry, across the globe by a number of electricity supply utilities, satisfying their demanding requirements on many varied network designs and in wide ranging climatic conditions.

Reporting directly to the Planning & Purchasing managers, this role will plan the supply of products and materials from the supply chain, through the manufacturing facility, to meet customers’ expectations, on time, in full and without waste.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Review demand-based business intelligence, seasonality and historical data, sales contracts, trends and customer orders to establish an accurate forecast of requirement.
  • Communicate and report planning data accurately and clearly for the business in a timely manner, consolidating the key issues for presentation.
  • To host weekly meetings for the management team, presenting the key indicators and issues that require action and resolution.
  • Coordinate activity with internal departments to achieve the required outcome, take the lead role in organising and presenting twice monthly SOP (Sales and Operations Planning) meetings.
  • Through using the Efacs ERP system, inject, maintain and improve MPS and MRP parameters to ensure recommendations to make and buy accurately reflect the needs of the business.
  • First response to the challenging requirements of our customers. Coordinating with the internal departments to ensure action is immediate, the impact positive and the solution timely. Provide the sales department with accurate and considered delivery information for both quotations and updates to customers.

Nature and Scope

  • The planner will review demand based business information, seasonality/historical data, sales contracts, trends and customer orders to establish an accurate and reliable business forecast.
  • To communicate, negotiate and agree the foundation for a multisite product procurement plan.
  • To establish and maintain accurate data via the ERP system (Efacs), making best use of its MPS/MRP and other capacity planning tools.
  • Manage the alignment of supply chain performance to the challenging needs of the customer.
  • Execute the timely release of works orders to on site manufacturing cells, so that utilisation of assets can be optimized.
  • Chair regular mini-SOP meetings with the management team, to both update and drive resolutions to bottlenecks.
  • Identify orders at risk of failure. Mitigate that risk. Collate details on-time delivery failure.
  • Any other associated duties to ensure the efficient operation of the Supply Chain.


  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in a Supply Chain or planning position.
  • Experience of statistical reporting, forecasting and understanding of financial and operational impacts of forecasting.

    Qualifications/ Technical Skills

  • A level education.
  • GCSE including Maths and English grade C or above preferred.
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office, Specifically Excel
  • Ability to manage ERP parameters.

Hours of work are Monday to Thursday 7:30am – 4pm and Friday 7:30am to 12:30pm.
